Joan Ganz Cooney

Chairman of the Executive Committee, Sesame Workshop 

Joan Ganz Cooney co-founded the Children's Television Workshop (since renamed Sesame Workshop) in 1968 and has created children's programming, including Sesame Street, The Electric Company, 3-2-1 Contact, and Dragon Tales, for more than three decades. She served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Sesame Workshop until 1990 and is currently Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Workshop's board.

Lloyd N. Morrisett, Ph.D.

Chairman Emeritus of the Board, Sesame Workshop 

Dr. Morrisett co-founded the Children's Television Workshop (since renamed Sesame Workshop) in 1968 and was Chairman of the Workshop board from 1968 until 2000; he continues as a board member. Lloyd served as President of The John and Mary R. Markle Foundation from 1969 to 1998, during which time he initiated the foundation's program in communications and information technology. He was Vice President of the Carnegie Corporation of New York and of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching before joining Markle. Currently, he is Chairman of the Executive Committee of Public Agenda, a nonprofit organization specializing in unbiased information on issues of national importance.

H. Melvin Ming

President and CEO 

As President and CEO of Sesame Workshop, H. Melvin Ming leads the nonprofit educational organization in its mission to create innovative, engaging content that maximizes the educational power of media to help children reach their highest potential. He directs the Workshop’s efforts around Sesame Street’s global presence as well as initiatives that address a wide range of issues for children and families including literacy, health, and military deployment. He was appointed President and CEO in October 2011.
