Cynthia Chiong, Ph.D.

Dr. Chiong received her doctorate degree in developmental psychology from the University of Virginia. During her graduate studies, she was also an Institute of Education Sciences (IES) fellow where the focus of the program was an interdisciplinary approach to educational research. Her research interests focus on how the design of educational media can affect young children's learning, the way they interact with them, and how parents and teachers use them to teach. Her research has been published in journals such as Psychological Science, Child Development, Journal of School Psychology, and American Behavioral Scientist. Aside from working with the Cooney Center, Cynthia is the Director of Research for Sirius Thinking, the creators of Between the Lions. She also works with Teachers College at Columbia University and Wireless Generation on IES and NIH-funded research that incorporates new approaches in creating math assessments for young students.
