DESCRIPTION:The Joan Ganz Cooney Center is thrilled to share our work at SXSW EDU this year. Michael Preston and Senior Fellow Mary Madden will present highlights from our research on youth media practices in this conversation with Debra Sanchez (Corporation for Public Broadcasting) and Milton Chen (Edutopia.org\, Sesame Workshop\, Kellogg Foundation).\n\nTweens\, Teens\, & Public Media: The Missing Middle.\n\nWhile most young kids watch PBS\, they leave public media behind in their tween and teen years. But youth still need engaging and educational content as they form their identities\, opinions\, and sense of purpose. With its mission to inform and educate\, public media must envision a future in which young people are equipped with the knowledge and skills to build the world they want to live in.
