Zaza Kabayadondo, PhDDirector of Industry Partnerships
Zaza Kabayadondo designs solutions and guides teams to reimagine their practice then discover and connect to new audiences for their mission. Before joining the team, Zaza developed strategy, research, and innovation playbooks for foundations and international associations. Zaza worked at Entangled Solutions which was acquired by Guild Education, a Fast Company Most Innovative in Education Winner. She has helped universities design classrooms, partnerships, degrees, and programming that prepare learners for a fulfilling career in a rapidly changing work environment. As director of the Design Thinking Initiative at Smith College, Zaza led a pilot program to infuse design into the college’s research, teaching, and new initiatives.
Zaza holds a BA in Media Arts and Sciences from Wellesley College and a PhD from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Education with research focused on the design of tools and environments that promote learning and creative work. She co-founded the first series of conferences on design thinking in education and is co-author of the book Taking Design Thinking to School: How the Technology of Design Can Transform Teachers, Classrooms and Schools. Zaza recently founded a nonprofit and serves as Chair of the Board of Directors for the Johnson Ndebele Opportunity Initiative (JNOI) which is focused on building classrooms, providing project-based learning, and delivering infrastructure to students in rural Zimbabwe. Zaza creates learning development opportunities for African filmmakers through the Silicon Valley African Film Festival; and she supports underrepresented entrepreneurs as a venture advisor.
